FAIRify your Data 2.0

The FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) are a central guiding framework for research data management. They indicate how reusable published datasets are. The careful preparation of research data by researchers, along with the functionality and features of the repositories used, together determine the FAIRness of datasets.

But how can we concretely measure how “FAIR” a dataset actually is? This is where FAIR Assessment Tools come into play—tools that objectively evaluate the FAIRness of data. Due to the rapid developments in FAIR assessment over the past few years, we are dedicating a follow-up event to these tools, building on our 2023 webinar. After an introduction to the FAIR principles and a brief overview of various FAIR Assessment Tools, we will present our new FAIR Assessment Tool following a short break. This tool has been specifically designed for use by researchers and research data management staff. We will begin with a demonstration of the tool. Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to try it out yourself. Feel free to bring DOIs or URLs of your own datasets. No worries if you don’t have your own data on hand—you can work with example datasets provided by the presenters. The event will be recorded (excluding chat texts, microphones, or participant webcams) and published, ensuring that no participants will be identifiable.
