Zertifikatskurs: Forschungsdatenmanagement für die Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften
The humanities and social sciences are increasingly working with digital data—such as questionnaires, video and audio recordings, transcripts, annotations, and photographs—making the proper handling of this research data more and more important.
After months of data collection, analysis, and interpretation, are you now ready to publish your findings in a scholarly journal? If so, it’s time to take another close look at your data and consider how it can be prepared for publication. Or are you just getting started on your dissertation or postdoc project and want to make sure you haven’t overlooked anything in the conduct and documentation of your research?
According to the DFG guidelines on ensuring good scientific practice, your results should be verifiable and reproducible. Have you ever heard of FAIR data? In the context of your data, this means that it should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Are you aware that publishing your data in a specialized data journal or repository can not only help you meet these requirements but can also result in an additional publication and further citations?
The publication and long-term archiving of your data are just two aspects of research data management. This workshop is designed to help you identify your data management needs, regardless of which phase of your project you are in. It is also intended to provide practical guidance on how to organize, structure, describe, and publish your data to meet the requirements of good scientific practice.
The workshop is organized and conducted in cooperation with three institutions: the Digital Research Services Department of the University Computer Center, the Imaginamics Cluster of Excellence at the University of Jena, and the Thuringian Competence Network for Research Data Management (TKFDM).

The workshop is aimed at doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers in the humanities and social sciences. Participation is open to all members of Thuringian universities and universities of applied sciences.
This is an online course that will take place via Zoom on November 10 and 11, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will include presentations, hands-on exercises, group work, and opportunities for discussion.
