Forum Digitale Universität Jena

The Forum Digitale Universität Jena will take place for the first time on June 1 and 2, 2026. It focuses on: “Digital Skills for Daily Life in Study, Teaching, Research, and Work”
The event includes:
• an online session on June 1, 2026, featuring keynote presentations, workshops, and mini-tutorials
• an in-person session on June 2, 2026, featuring a World Café and exhibition booths
The Thuringian Competence Network for Research Data Management (TKFDM) will participate on both days of the event. Therefore, we would like to draw your attention to a few program items that may be of particular interest to your work in the field of research data management and research support.
Online Day | June 1, 2026
Short Presentations
- 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. | Encryption of Files and Folders
A practical overview of everyday tools for securely encrypting sensitive files and folders. - 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. | Automatic Transcription
Presentation of the data center’s transcription service, available since October 2025, including a live demo, application scenarios, and usage tips.
Workshops and Mini Tutorials

- 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. | Workshop “Never Again paperFinalFinal(2).txt” Introduction to Git
A practical workshop on version control with Git for beginners and advanced users. - 12:15 PM to 1:45 PM | Workshop: FAIRify Your Data An introduction to the FAIR principles, as well as a presentation of FAIR assessment tools and a newly developed tool for researchers and FDM staff.
- 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM | Mini Tutorial: Documenting Experiments with eLabFTW
Live demo of the electronic lab notebook eLabFTW for planning, documenting, and managing scientific experiments.
On-site Day | June 2, 2026
Visit the TKFDM booth to learn about the network’s current services, events, and projects. You’ll also find plenty of materials to take home, including:
• Handouts and checklists on research data management
• The Research Data Scary Tales card game
• The TKFDM Coffee Lecture poster
Participation is also open to institutions outside the University of Jena.
