New fact sheet about Open Source Software!

"Open Source" is a movement in software development which has gained more and more impact in the last decades. Software is called Open Source if (1) the source code of the application is open, readable and understandable for humans (2) the software can be copied, distributed and used without restraints and (3) the software can be modified and distributed in any form.

In this fact sheet we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of open source software. We also compare them to proprietary software and freeware, discuss open formats, and present options which exist in the open source area that can be used as a free-of-charge alternative to the fee-based applications.
